Halfway along the coast between Limassol and Paphos, a green hillside village looks down over vineyards and a wide, sheltered bay. Pissouri has a gentle pace of its own, with tavernas in the square, walks among the olive and carob trees and the sea only a few minutes away.

Pissouri lies about thirty kilometres west of central Limassol, and its administrative area is one of the largest in the district. The main village is built on the slope of a hill around three kilometres from the bay, near the headland of Cape Aspro, and over time two communities have formed: Pissouri Village and Pissouri Bay. Around 1,100 people live here permanently, roughly half of them Cypriot and many of the rest British, which gives the area a friendly, international character.

Getting around is easy for a village of its size. The A6 motorway passes close by, so central Limassol can be reached in around half an hour, and Paphos and its international airport lie in the other direction along the same road. Kourion, Kolossi and the western suburbs of Limassol are all on the way into the city.

Life here moves with the seasons. The valley between the bay and the village is still farmed for table grapes, wine, olives, carobs and almonds, and the countryside invites long walks. Down at the bay, the beach, cafés and seafood restaurants are busy in summer and calmer the rest of the year. In the village, the Church of the Apostle Andreas, built by local volunteers from 1883 and known for its carved wooden iconostasis, is one of several historic chapels.

Day-to-day needs are well covered locally. Both the village and the bay have shops, tavernas, restaurants, cafés and bars, and there are everyday services in the village itself. For larger shopping trips, hospitals and international schools, Limassol is the nearest city, about half an hour away.

The property market has grown steadily, with many new homes and neighbourhoods built around the village in recent years. Buyers can choose between traditional stone village houses, detached villas on the hillsides, many with views over the bay, and apartments in smaller complexes near the beach. Resales and new builds both come up regularly.

Pissouri suits buyers looking for a holiday home by the sea, retirees seeking a quieter village life with an established international community, families who want space between two cities, and remote workers who value calm surroundings.
